WWhat do sexual and spiritual desire have in common? At first blush, you might think: not much. Some of us have been conditioned to believe that sexuality and spirituality are two diverging paths. Some even believe sex can be sinful. However, if you dig deeper to understand the why behind these two desires, you’ll see they actually have a lot in common. The desire for communion. The urge to connect. The need to be a part of something bigger than yourself. The desire for peace. A feeling of bliss. I could go on.

Take a moment to think about how it feels to be newly in love. You would likely have a warm, rosy glow, a positive outlook; even drab, rainy days would seem poetic. You feel beautiful inside and out, seeing only the best in your new love and wanting to share your joy with those around you. Doesn’t that sound a lot like how you might respond to being spiritually awakened?
