Is Platonic Kink a Thing?
On one of my on-line dating profiles I wrote that I am interested in finding potential platonic kink partners. I got messages asking me what this meant. I got one message from a guy that just read “sounds like a lot of work.” I wasn’t entirely sure if it was even a thing or if I had made it up. In my mind, I was imagining an exploration of kink that wasn’t sexual. Like an open-minded friend who I could go to parties with and cuddle, discuss the things that were coming up, negotiate scenes and feel safe with, without the added complexity of sexual expectations or desires. Was this possible? Would it have to be purely mechanical? As in, this is how to tie this Shibari harness, this is what an electric wand feels like on your hand, this is how you use a flogger? I wasn’t completely sure.
