My Anxiety Disappeared During the Pandemic

An exploration in angst while watching music videos from the 80s.

As I write this, I’ve watched nine hours of 80s music videos in the past 24 hours.

I stumbled upon this free music channel with a perfectly 80s name — XITE — and have been transfixed ever since.

I’ve got to be honest — it came at a great time.

After receiving my COVID-19 vaccines and the easing of restrictions, a fog of sadness has crept over me.

And binging these videos has helped ease my soul and calm my brain.

“Gypsy” is hands down Fleetwood Mac’s best music video. The way Stevie swirls in glittery slow motion at the end — such a beautiful sight. And her and Lindsey dancing in the 1940s lounge? Just another visual dollop of their six-decade love-hate relationship. Did you know “Gypsy” is about the early days when Stevie and Lindsey were poor musicians and she would write songs on the floor?
