At Human Parts, we spend our days scouring the Medium platform for essays and perspectives we think our audience would love. Along the way, we stumble upon countless stories that surprise us — proof of the internet’s ability to deliver what we didn’t know we needed.

A long, long time ago — like, February — we took our senses on all kinds of adventures. They joined us on urine-soaked commutes. They waited patiently in line for a cronut, or a macaron, or whatever dessert was Instagramable that week. Our ears and eyes watched our favorite artists perform on stage, limbs swaying to the music and brushing against strangers with careless abandon. Now, 10,000 years into quarantine, our senses are as bored as we are. Sure, sourdough smells fantastic — the first 50 times.

It’s not easy being surrounded by the same everything, every day. But even within the limitations imposed on us by this pandemic, we have options. We can flop around until someone else magically…
