A weekend writing prompt
We all have a song. A song of the summer. A karaoke go-to. A beat that spins on a turntable in your mind as you stare at the ceiling every night. It roars through your car’s speakers as you scream-sing from point A to point Z, and every lyric feels like it was written exclusively for you.
Write a story with a soundtrack. Follow the arc of a single song, letting it take you wherever earworms take you. Tell the story of how the song changed you, opened you up, or let you down. Focus on the song itself — or better yet, don’t. Focus on your experience and let the melody fade into the background, coloring your story as songs always do.
